Doris Mckeever Davis Young

Funeral services will be held 3 p.m., Saturday, February 25th at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset. A visitation with family present will be held 1 to 3 p.m., Saturday afternoon, prior to services. Burial will be in the Peru Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Winterset Senior Center. Doris McKeever Davis Young was born April 18, 1921 in Peru, Iowa, the daughter of Lisle and Cora (Benson) Travis. She married Oliver Wallace McKeever in June 1937. She later married Frank Davis and following his death, she married Dale Young. Doris was a homemaker while raising her four sons. She later went to work for the Strable Nursing Home in St. Charles and later worked 20 years for CDS in Des Moines. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene of Winterset and enjoyed spending time at the Winterset Senior Center. She enjoyed bingo, Wii bowling, playing cards and reading. She also enjoyed watching TV shows, especially, The Price is Right and Wheel of Fortune. Doris died Monday, February 20, 2012 at Iowa Methodist in Des Moines. She was 90. Doris is survived by her four sons, Monty McKeever (Betty) of Winterset, Jerry McKeever (June Myers) of Winterset, Larry McKeever (Sue) of Des Moines, and Robert McKeever (Deborah) of Winterset; a brother, Clark Travis (Marilyn) of Davenport; 9 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and several siblings.
