Dorothy J. Mckeever

February 5, 1961 — December 18, 2008

Dorothy was born February 5, 1961 in Fulton, NY, the daughter of Charles and Shirley (Thompson) Belden. Dorothy graduated from Phoenix High School in Fulton, NY and following graduation she enlisted in the United States Army, serving her country for the next several years. Following her discharge from her military service she raised her two children and worked several management level jobs. When her children were raised Dorothy again joined the military enlisting with the Iowa Army National Guard in 1999. Her marriage to Mark McKeever took place February 13, 2002 at the Madison County Courthouse. Dorothy is survived by her spouse, Mark McKeever; her two children, Julie Goodrich and fiancé Jason Spong of Des Moines, Kyle Goodrich of Ames; four step-children, Mark McKeever, Jr. and Jessica of Creston, Jennifer McKeever of Winterset, Lindsay McKeever and fiancé Will Cannon of Polk City, Justin McKeever of Winterset; five grandchildren (Johnny, Keelyn, Breckyn, Bryce, and Sean); five sisters, Cynthia J (CJ) Lowe and Peter DiNicola, of Norwich, NY, Barbara Lawton of Cherokee, Lynn Richtsmeier and Duane of Ackley, Pati Jo Miller and Fred of Cherokee, Jessica Belden and Doug Sliter of Sioux City; two brothers, Donald Belden and DaVina of Buckeye, Charles Belden Jr. and Barbara of Cherokee; two uncles, William and Sharon Parker, Wesley and Judy Belden and one aunt, Doris Thompson; 20 nieces and nephews; 15 great nieces and nephews and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and her step-daughter, Brooke McKeever. Dorothy was a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom serving her country from December of 2003 to February of 2005. She was a part of the 1088th Personal Service Detachment stationed in Kuwait. The 1088th processed incoming units into the Iraq Theater. She enjoyed camping, hunting and loved the outdoors, her children and grandchildren. Visitation: 1 to 6 p.m., Sunday, where family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. December 21, 2008 at Ochiltree Funeral Servcie & Aftercare, Winterset. Service: 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 22, 2008 at The First United Methodist Church, Winterset. Memorial: Memorials may be directed to Middle River Hospice, Winterset or Mercy Hospice, Johnston.
