Dorothy J. Skinner

Dorothy Jean Skinner was born July 7, 1925 in Perry, Iowa to Archie Willard Skinner and Helen Susan Carhill Skinner and she died April 22, 2008 at the Rowley Memorial Masonic Home in Perry, Iowa at the age of 83 Years, 9 Months, and 15 Days. Jeanie as she was known to most people was baptized on October 13, 1938 in Perry. After her father died, she was raised by Helen and Merle Robinson. They lived in Eldora, then moving to Missouri in 1974. Jeanie moved to the Rowley Home in 1988. The staff became her family as well as her caregivers. Jeanie was very social and played the accordion in the Kitchen Band and Rowley. She enjoyed music, dancing, going on bus trips for a Dutch treat, and her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, step-father, and sister, Beverly "Hap" Van Sickle. Jeanie is survived by her brother, Donald Skinner (Barbara) of Belleville, IN.; brother-in-law, Vernon "Jack" Van Sickle, of Eldora, IA; nephews, Don Kinder of Eldora, Ricci Skinner (Sherry), Rob Skinner (Renee) all of Belleville, IN.; nieces, Cheryl Cox (Bill) of Ottumwa, IA, Callie Marksbery (Rob) of Lafayette, IN, and Myra Huff (Ron) of Ft. Worth, TX; 8 great-nieces and nephews; 1 great-great niece; other relatives and friends.
