Dorothy Lou Keenan, daughter of Worth Lester and Hattie Lester, was born September 22, 1932 in Perry, Iowa and died May 22, 2006 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa at the age of 73 years and 8 months. Dorothy grew up in Perry and graduated from Perry High School. On August 5, 1950, Dorothy was united in marriage to Daryl Keenan at Rev. Bittle's home. They were the proud parents of 3 children: Dixie Daniels, Denell Hansen and Dana Keenan. Dorothy and Daryl lived their entire lives together in Perry. They have lived in their current home since 1962. Dorothy stayed busy as a homemaker taking care of their 3 children. In her later years she went to work as a dietary aid at the Perry Lutheran Home. Dorothy loved to play music on her keyboard. She was also very fond of animals, especially dogs. Dorothy was also a great cook, but one her favorite things to do was spend time with her grandchildren. Dorothy was a member of the First Christian Church in Perry. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and several brothers and sisters including Keith and Dewey Lester and Harriett Heenan. She is survived by her husband Daryl of Perry; her daughters: Dixie Daniels and her husband Lynn of Perry and Denell Hansen and her husband Tim of Minden, Iowa; her son: Dana Keenan of Perry; 8 grandchildren: Henry Kersey and his wife Toni of Freeport, Texas, Kim Daniels of Perry, Iowa, Courtney Daniels of Perry, Iowa, Dane Hansen of Minden, Iowa, Casey Hansen of Minden, Iowa, Natasha McCrory and her husband Ryan of Des Moines, Iowa, Nathan Keenan and his wife Brooke of Boone, Iowa and Caleb Keenan of Oahu, Hawaii; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters: Marion Shay of Peoria, Illinois and Lois Mullen of Des Moines, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
