Dorothy L. Libby, 84, of St. Charles died Saturday, December 8, 2018 at West Bridge Care & Rehab in Winterset. A visitation will be held at Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, December 11 with family present to receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 12 at the Calvary Baptist Church in St. Charles with a luncheon to immediately follow. Graveside and burial will be in the Winterset Cemetery at 2 p.m., Wednesday afternoon. Memorials may be directed to the family and online condolences may be left for the family at ochiltree.com. Dorothy Louise Libby was born August 17, 1934 in Warren County Iowa; the daughter of Paul and Marjorie (Huss) Oglesbee. Her marriage to Ernie Libby took place on October 28, 1951 at the Saint Charles Methodist Church parsonage. Dorothy and Ernie were married for 62 years. Dorothy attended school in Martensdale and raised her family in Saint Charles. She operated an in-home daycare for twenty years and worked for 30 more years at the Saint Charles Day Care Center. Dorothy couldn’t wait for the day to begin so she could start rocking and snuggling the babies. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Saint Charles. Dorothy was often heard humming her favorite hymns. Mom and Dad walked the two blocks to church every Sunday. Dorothy is survived by her five children, Kathy (Kenny) Peterson of Saint Charles, Karen (Lee) Gray of Saint Charles, Gene (Linda) Libby of Redfield, Janet (Rod) Fleming of Murray, Alan (Arlene) Libby of Van Wert; 11 grandchildren, Dwane, Nathan, and Daniel Peterson; Tyler and Thomas Fleming; Ethan and Madelyn Libby; Colby Foster; Lucas Hughes, Angie Gannon and Dustin Riley and 4 great grandchildren, Sophia, Joshua, Jayden and Dylan Peterson; and a sister Madge (Dave) Meisters of Mitchellville. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ernie; a daughter, Carol Libby; two brothers, Mack Oglesbee and Wayne Oglesbee; and three sisters, Eleanor Carpenter, Norma Oglesbee and Margaret Libby.
