Dorothy May Wallace

Dororthy May Wallace, 82, passed away on May 5, 2023.  Dorothy was born on April 23, 1941 in Des Moines, Iowa.  She is survived by her son Thomas Lester, her daughter Kelly Lester, her sister Lois Aller (Jim), her brothers James Karnes, Edward Karnes (Janice), and Harry Dhabolt.

Dorothy was a long time server at La Pizza House for 27 years, until her retirement in 2009.  She also previously worked at Latin King and Gino’s restaurants.

Dorothy’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life. She was also much loved by her many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her sons John Lester, Christopher Lester, and Duane Lester Jr., her mother Ruth Spencer Dhabolt;  her father Floyd Wallace (KIA in the Sea of Japan, 1945); step-father, Fred Dhabolt; sisters, Mildred Wallace Baumann, Bernice Dhabolt Davis and Blanch Dhabolt Frederickson; and brothers, Darold Dhabolt, Andrew Wallace and Donald Dhabolt.

A visitation will be held at the Norwalk Christian Church on Monday, May 15 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., with interment of ashes immediately following at Avon Cemetery.  Memorial contributions can be directed to the family.
