Dorothy D. Mildred Lewis was born October 18, 1918 in Windom, Minnesota and died December 7, 2007 at the Dallas County Medical Center in Perry at the age of 89 years, 1 month, and 19 days. As a child, Dorothy moved with her family north of Redfield and graduated from Redfield High School. She married Raymond Eugene "Gene" Lewis May 28, 1968. They made their home on Park Street for many years. Dorothy had worked at Woolworth's and Northwestern Bell Telephone until she retired in 1980. Dorothy had volunteered at the Perry Healthcare and served on the Care Review Board. As a couple they volunteered for the Civil Patrol. Dorothy had provided the Cook Shack at many horse shows and rodeos. She enjoyed fishing, trapping, gardening and going to rodeos. Dorothy had been a member of the Ladies of the Moose and Telephone Pioneers. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Donna Choate in 1988; grandson Gregory Choate; 2 great- grandchildren, Beatrice Blades and Jessica Dixon; 3 brothers, Berthal, John, and Donald "Red" Devilbiss; and 3 sisters, Lula Clements, Jessie Jones, and Betty Devilbiss. Dorothy is survived by her husband Gene; daughter Judy Eastman and husband Eldon of Dawson; 11 grandchildren: Bea Elliott of Houston, TX; Dale Choate (Carrie) of Grand Junction; Jeanne Harvey (Bill) of Urbandale; Donnie Choate of Des Moines; Ronda Blades (Mike) of Elysien Field, TX; Wendy Cooper (Scott) of Dawson; Patrick Eastman (Lisa) of Dawson; Denise Heinz (Joel) of Dawson; Kerri Heinz (Orlin) of Perry; Sherri Sharp (Tim) of Springfield, MO; and Kimberly Dixon of San Antonio, TX; 23 great-grandchildren, Dean; April; Donna; Marc; Jennifer; Ashley; Steven; Gregory; Betty Lynn; Heather; Amanda; Lukas; Alexis; Keegan; Jacob; Matt; Mike; Melody; Josh; Ashley; Megan; Kyle; and Danielle; 2 sisters, Helen Evans (George) of Des Moines and Hazel Barnes of Dexter; sisters-in-law: Dorothy Devilbiss of Rippey; Carol Devilbiss of Perry; many nieces; nephews; other relatives; and many friends.
