Douglas Busch, 94, of Winterset, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 8, 2017. A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, November 10, 2017, at Ochiltree Funeral Service, with family present to receive friends at this time. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 11, at Ochiltree Funeral Service, with burial to follow in the Moon Cemetery south of Macksburg. Memorials may be directed to the family and online condolences can be left at ochiltree.com. Douglas Andrew Busch was born February 19, 1923, to Ernest Andrew and Dulcie Velma (Moore) Busch at their home in Lorimor, Iowa. He graduated from Macksburg High School in 1941. Douglas served in the Army for two years during World War II. On August 23, 1948, he married JoAnn Lull and they had three children: Marsha, Craig and Kim. Douglas was a lifelong farmer in Madison County who enjoyed working his land and was very proud of his Black Angus herd. He always used Allis-Chalmers machinery and later collected their figurines. He was a member of the American Legion in Macksburg, Williamson and Winterset; a member of the VFW in Creston and Winterset and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Winterset. Douglas served for six years as a member of the Orient-Macksburg Community School Board. He enjoyed going square dancing and card parties in his younger years. Douglas and JoAnn loved to camp especially during the Iowa State Fair. They were also snow birds who enjoyed spending winters in Arizona. Above all else, Douglas was a loyal husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who cherished the time he was able to spend with the ones he loved. Left to cherish his memory are his three children, Marsha Underwood of Villisca; Craig (Linda) Busch of Winterset; Kim (Steve) Watson of Grimes; six grandchildren, Todd (Lynette) Busch; Scott (Kelly) Busch; Curtis (Kamy) Busch; Cale (Kaitlin) Antisdel; Austin (Nicole) Antisdel; Clay Antisdel; nine great grandchildren, Donald (Amanda) Fisher; Dakota (Costa Ortiz) Busch; Paige Busch; Jenna Busch; Tyler Busch; Addison Busch; Kaleb Herbst; two great great grandchildren, Adelyn Fisher; Alayna Ortiz; special friend, Betty Harper of Winterset; numerous relatives and friends. Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Dulcie Busch; wife, JoAnn Busch; brothers and sisters.
