Douglas Ott

“Douglas Roy Ott, 71, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2025, at his home in Clive, IA. Doug was known for his independent spirit and had a huge impact on all who knew him. 

Born in 1953 in Charles City, IA to parents Donald R. and Deloris M. Ott, Doug graduated from West Des Moines Valley High School (class of 1971) and enjoyed an illustrious career working for the City of Des Moines Water Works. Doug was a dedicated Iowa Hawkeyes fan and a car guy through and through - few things brought a smile to his face more than the rumble of a small-block V8.

Doug was proceeded in death by Donald and Deloris and will be remembered by his son and daughter-in-law, J.D. and Jennifer Ott and their three children, Andrew (Jenna), Alexander, and AJ Ott. Doug is also survived by his siblings Steve Ott (Mary) and Kim Ott Katch (Kent) as well as their respective children. Doug was particularly proud of his grandsons - they were the spark in his life and will carry forward both the lessons and the memories he left behind.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at the Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home in Urbandale, IA. Condolences may be shared online with the family at www.caldwellparrish.com.
