Drew Jacobson, 16, of Woodward, died Monday, December 7, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. A visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, December 9 at the Woodward Granger High School-Middle School Auditorium. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, December 10 at the Woodward Granger High School Gymnasium, with a visitation prior to the service from 9 to 11 a.m. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, December 11 at Assumption Catholic Church in Granger. Memorials may be directed to the family. Andrew Russell Jacobson, son of Russell Jacobson and Janine Sutherland, was born December 22, 1998 in Des Moines, Iowa. He was a junior at the Woodward Granger High School and was very active in sports, participating in football, basketball and track. He was a member of the All District Academic Team for football and was voted a football team captain for the 2016 season. Drew was a positive person who loved to help people whenever or wherever they needed him. In his free time, he enjoyed cutting wood with his grandpa, playing Xbox and spending time with his puppy, Abbey. Drew truly lived life to the fullest and cherished the time he was able to spend with his family, friends, teammates, and schoolmates. He was loving son, brother, and friend. Drew is survived by his father, Russell (Nikki) Jacobson of Woodward; mother, Janine “Nina” Sutherland of Des Moines; brothers, Keegan Sutherland of Des Moines and Riley Jacobson of Des Moines; grandfather, Earl Jacobson of Menlo; grandmother, Mary Sutherland of Johnston; great-grandmother, Marie Lind of Perry; many uncles, aunts, cousins, other relatives and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Deloris Jacobson; grandfather, Ron Sutherland; and great-grandfather, Hubert Lind.
