Duane Dean Caudle, 88 of De Soto, passed away February 20, 2016 at Taylor House in Des Moines. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 27, 2016 at United Methodist Church in De Soto with burial at Oakland Cemetery in De Soto. Family will greet friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Duane was born June 22, 1927 in De Soto, Iowa, son of Omar and Frances (Sutherland) Caudle. He graduated from Big Bear High School in Victorville, CA in 1946. He joined the United States Army in April, 1946 and was honorably discharged in September, 1947. Duane was united in marriage to Kathryn Lucille Adams on September 29, 1951. To this union two children were born, Beverly (Lyle) Collagan and Ronald (Lisa Slater) Caudle. Duane farmed most of his life in the De Soto and Van Meter area. He enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting. He especially enjoyed hunting with his bow and arrow. Another favorite of his was the truck and tractor pulls at the Dallas County Fair. He very rarely missed a year of going to watch and sometimes even participating. In 2010, he was honored to go on the Freedom Flight. Duane and Lucille owned and operated Archery Field and Sports in Des Moines from 1980-1984. During this time, they traveled to different archery tournaments, including Las Vegas, Omaha, and Kansas City, as well as many through out the state of Iowa. Duane was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Lucille. He is survived by his daughter Beverly, son Ron, four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, his beloved dog, Amy, cat Peaches, and many family and friends. He will forever be missed.
