Dwight David Douglas, son of Harold Matthew Douglas and Wanda Verleen Rice Douglas, was born March 24, 1957 in Monticello. Iowa, and died May 8, 2008 at the Dallas County Hospital in Perry, Iowa, at the age of 51 years, 1 month and 14 days. Dwight graduated from Lincoln H.S. in 1975. During his school years he enjoyed playing drums in various bands, but especially enjoyed his years with the band "Stampede". Dwight and Diana Retman made their home together for 28 years during which they were married February 14, 1997. They made their home in Perry and for the last 15 years lived in Bouton. Dwight was confirmed in the Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing and adored his three cats, Charles, Chaos, and Punky. Dwight also was kind to all stray cats and would see that they were fed. Dwight had worked for Iowa Methodist Hospital for a time and Orscheln for six years. He loved to cook and enjoyed his employment with the Woodward Academy. Dwight was preceded in death by his mother Wanda; sister Mary Douglas, and uncle Kenneth Douglas. He is survived by his wife Diana of Bouton; daughter Brandy Jean Retman (Scott Grimes) of Granger; granddaughter Willow Brooke Grimes; father Harold Douglas of Des Moines; brother-in- law Jim Tomlinson of Des Moines; aunt Bertha Hetzer of Des Moines; nephew Daniel Tomlinson and niece Kaitlin Tomlinson; cousins; other relatives and friends.
