Dwight James Eckstein

Dwight James Eckstein, 60, of Peru, passed away Monday, January 29, 2018, at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. A celebration of life will be held Sunday, February 11, 2018, from 1 to 4 PM at the Cobblestone Inn and Suites (1304 N. 4th Ave., Winterset, Iowa). Dwight was born to James and Darlene (Osborn) Eckstein on March 25, 1957 in Winterset, IA. He was united in marriage to Michelle Hart of Winterset on June 1, 1979. To this union were born two children. Dwight worked for 29 years at Eagle Iron Works in Des Moines until the plant closed. Most recently he worked at Cobett Company of Peru where he was treated like family. Dwight enjoyed being with his family, the outdoors and taking care of his lawn. Dwight is survived by his wife, Michelle; children, Angelina of Peru and Nicholas of DeSoto; mother, Darlene Eckstein of Winterset; sisters, Linda (Mori) Sorenson of Urbandale and Jeanie (Bob) Stephens of Winterset; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, James Eckstein.
