Hastings Funeral Home in Jefferson is in charge of arrangements for Dwight Edwin Louk, 83 of Laurie, MO formerly of Jefferson, died Friday, May 25, 2012. Services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home in Jefferson with burial in the Jefferson cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 to 12 before the service on Friday. Dwight E. Louk, age 83, of Laurie, passed away Friday, May 25, 2012, at Laurie Care Center. He was born July 30, 1928, in Dana, Iowa, the son of Earl and Mabel Wenner Louk. Dwight went to school in Dana and Cooper; he graduated from Jefferson High School in 1947. On May 15, 1948, Dwight was united in marriage to his wife, Madonna in the Baptist Church in Jefferson. The couple recently celebrated their 64th anniversary on May 15, 2012. Dwight was a member of the Methodist Church in Jefferson and the Ozark Chapel Methodist Church in Luarie, Missouri. Dwight was one of the founding members of the Elks Lodge in Jefferson. He was a member of Union 497, Cub Scout, Webelo leader, and a member of the Lions Club and in the Iowa National Guard for three years. Dwight enjoyed trap shooting, hunting, and bowling. He also enjoyed car and motorcycle racing. Dwight retired from the Greene County R E C after 43 years. In addition, he was also an electrician, as well as owner of a tree removal service for a number of years in Jefferson, Iowa. Upon his retirement, Dwight retired to a home on the Lake of the Ozarks, where he served on the Gravois Fire Protection District for 17 years and was 1st lieutenant in 1991. Dwight was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Wayne, Chet, Jim, Bud, Tobe and Billy, his sister, Margaret, and sister-in-law Corrine Dremmel. In addition to his wife, Madonna, Dwight is survived by his daughter, Connie Louk of Columbia, Missouri; his son, Steven Louk and wife, Becky of Pleasant Hill, Iowa; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers-in-law: Wayne Kern and Paul Kern both of Webster City; sisters-in-law Karol Peterson of Jefferson; Beverly Pelz of Backus, MN; and Norma Louk of Jefferson; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends Memorials are suggested to the Gravois Mills Fire Protection District, in honor of Dwight's 17 years of service.
