Dylan Butler

October 11, 2006 — January 4, 2024

Dylan Jesse Butler, 17, of Perry, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday January 4th, 2024. Dylan was born in Des Moines, Iowa to Jack and Erin (Munson) Butler on October 11th, 2006. The first 10 years of his life, they lived on an acreage outside of Jamaica. There he loved to be outside. He especially loved fishing and trips to the sandbar on their Yamaha Rhino. He loved to play in the snow and was best friends with our neighbor dogs, Roxy and Fire. Then his little sister Chloe was born in 2011. (He never quite got over the loss of his only child status). The family moved into Perry where Dylan enjoyed the above ground pool on the patio and running around with the neighborhood kids. In 2022, the family built a new home surrounded by timber, where Dylan loved to explore with his sister and mushroom hunt with his dad. Dylan was a music lover and listened to several genres of music. He got his love for all things 80’s from his mom. He took piano lessons for a few years and later learned how to play the guitar. He had a great sense of humor and loved watching Trailer Park Boys. He loved going for country drives and listening to music. He was kind of a picky eater and loved his mac n cheese, pizza and chicken wings, all drenched in buffalo sauce. He washed it down with either sweet tea or ginger beer. He recently discovered his love of tacos from the taco truck with a grilled jalapeno (like his dad, he loved all things hot and spicy). Dylan was a kindhearted soul and had a compassionate and caring heart and was accepting of everyone. He liked all things vintage and nostalgic.

Waiting for him in heaven was his Grandpa Joe Butler, and Kenny (the cat). Also, several great grandparents.

Dylan is survived by his parents, Jack and Erin and his younger sister Chloe Butler, all of Perry; grandmothers Barb Butler of Perry and Pam Munson of Madrid; grandfather Ray Munson of Woodward; Aunts Kari (Tony) Vess of Norman, OK, Tami Lamon of Oklahoma City OK, Julie (Ryan) Larue of Ankeny and Uncle Eric Munson also of Ankeny; Cousins Breana, Gina, Tasha, Melissa, Cody, Faith, Lochlan, Addi and Owen; Cats Penny, Milo and Ruby.
