Earl Kaminski, 89, of Des Moines, passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2023.
Earl was born on April 15, 1934 in Trade Lake, Wisconsin to Walter and Muriel (Westrom) Kaminski, and grew up in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. He was drafted on his 19th birthday, in 1954, and served in the United States Army at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and in Bomholder, Germany.
Earl was active in a variety of groups and was president of the Des Moines Izaak Walton League in 1965, Nation Chief in Indian (Adventure) Guides, and a charter member of St. Mary of Nazareth Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He loved the outdoors, fishing, and hunting. In 1997, he retired from John Deere in Ankeny after a near 40-year career.
Earl is survived by his wife Janet, who he married on July 2, 1960, daughter, Dawn (Jim) O’Brien; sons, Wade (JoAnn), Mark, Brad (Michelle), and Dan (Anna); and his nine grandchildren: Brandon, Jordan, Lauren, Parker, Morgan, Madison, Clark, Scott, and Hayes. He is also survived by his sisters, Terry Schulist and Faye Kaminski.
Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 9:00 am Monday, October 16, 2023 at St. Mary of Nazareth Catholic Church followed by visitation until 11:00 am.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Earl will be 11:00 am, Monday, October 16, 2023 at St. Mary of Nazareth Catholic Church.
