Edith Grace McDowell, daughter of Harry Lewis and Hazel Newton Lewis, was born January 2, 1912 in Dawson, Iowa and died November 14, 2005 at the Rowley Memorial Masonic Home in Perry, Iowa at the age of 93 years, 10 months and 12 days. Edith grew up in Dawson, attended school and graduated from high school there. She was united in marriage to Clarence A. McDowell on January 21, 1929 in Jefferson, Iowa. They were the parents of Richard, Gary and Joyce. The family made their home in Dawson. Edith worked for Northwestern Bell for many years. She loved crafting, ceramics, sewing and painting. She was also quite fond of the outdoors and liked to go fishing. Edith was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her three children and two grandsons. She is survived by her grandchildren: Craig McDowell and his special friend Shelly Landals of Dawson, Randy McDowell of California, Kim Wyers and her husband Mark of Perry, Denise Johnson and her husband Kenneth of Rippey and Mike McDowell and his wife Sandy of Perry; daughter-in-law Mary McDowell of Perry; special friend Shirley Rex of Perry; many great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
