Edna Kephart

April 5, 1917 — February 13, 2009

Edna was born April 5, 1917 in Peru, Iowa, the daughter of Thomas and Marvie (Smith) Kephart. She lived most of her life at the Horton’s County Home which later became Summerset Haven in Madison County. When Summerset Haven closed, Edna moved to the Winterset Care Center North. She was preceded in death by her parents and 11 siblings, Jim Kephart, Alvin Kephart, Lloyd Kephart, Tom Kephart, Anderson Kephart, Forest Kephart, Mable Diggs, Sadie McKinney, Mary Chapman, Mildred Majava and Annabelle Lemon. Edna enjoyed puzzles, babies and listening to her record player. Her laugh was strong and filled the room. She also enjoyed going to Kephart reunions, as well as, visiting with friends and family. She is survived by a sister, Hazel Snell of Greenfield; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews who live in surrounding communities in Iowa. Visitation: One hour prior to services (10:00 to 11:00 a.m.,), February 17, 2009 at Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winteset. Service: 11:00 a.m., February 17, 2009 at Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset. Memorial: Memorial contributions may be made in her name.
