Edna Mae Haglund, daughter of Carl Lofstedt and Clara Schuttler Lofstedt, was born December 14, 1912 in Rippey, Iowa and died July 24, 2007 at the Rowley Memorial Masonic Home in Perry. Edna graduated from Rippey High School in 1931. She then attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa and received her teaching certificate. Edna taught Country School #2 near Angus and rural school near Jefferson. She married Raymond Haglund on May 31, 1939 at the Methodist Parsonage in Scranton, Iowa. They were parents of three sons: Verle, Doyle, and Delos. The family farmed in various places, including Squirrel Hollow, Jefferson, Rippey, Winterset, and Audubon. They moved to the farm where Edna was born and celebrated that farm being a Century Farm. Raymond died in 1989 and Edna continued to live on the farm until moving into Perry. Failing health caused her to move to the Rowley Home. Edna always worked actively on the farm with no job being too difficult for her. She found time to enjoy gardening, cooking, and doing needlework. Edna always loved her flowers. She was a member of First Christian Church in Perry. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brother Merton Lofstedt, and two stillborn brothers. Edna is survived by three sons: Verle and wife Maureen of Perry; Doyle and wife Mary May of Britt; and Delos and wife Marlys of Jefferson, 5 grandchildren: Greg Haglund and wife Laura; Mollie Hamilton and husband Adam; Jeff Haglund and wife Lisa; and Roxanne Muir and husband Todd.
