Edna Mae Rice, daughter of John William Renfrow and Berla Mae Kirkman Renfrow, was born March 12, 1924 in Summersville, Missouri, and died October 22, 2007 at the Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson, Iowa, at the age of 83 years, 7 months and 10 days. Edna moved many times with her family, attending school in various places. She graduated from Dawson High School in 1942. She married Floyd Rice on August 2, 1944. They were parents of one son Harve. Edna and Floyd lived all their married lives in Greene County. She actively helped her husband on their farm. Edna was a great cook with fried chicken and pies being specialties. She came from a musical family and always enjoyed country music. Having been a basketball player in high school, she enjoyed watching basketball. Edna had a deep love for her family and was always close to her brothers. She had helped raise her nephew John during the summer months after the untimely death of his mother. Edna continued to live on the farm until 8 years ago when she moved to the Senior Citizen apartments in Rippey. Last summer she made her home with Harve and Joyce and in September entered the Manor in Jefferson. Edna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Floyd in 1983; brothers Herschel; Howard; Bud; Rex; and Virgil Renfrow; sisters Helen Jones; Edith Kever and Anna K. Gander. She is survived by her son Harve and wife Joyce; grandson Bradley and wife Lori and 3 great-grandchildren Kaylee, Dylan, and Nicholas; all of Rippey, Iowa; sister Kathy Mullihan of Maxwell, Iowa; sisters- in- law Shirley Renfrow of Grimes, Iowa; Dorothy Groves of Rippey, Iowa; and Vera Oswaller of Illinois; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
