Elaine Marie Lauth, 94, passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Silvercrest of Woodlands Creek in Clive, Iowa. Elaine was born, raised and spent most of her life in the Chicagoland area. She graduated from Sienna High School and worked for several years as a Dictaphone operator. In 1947 she married her husband George and became a full time homemaker while raising their children in Elmhurst, Illinois. In 1965 they moved to Sandwich, Illinois where Elaine became a school bus driver for children with special needs. Once George retired, he too, became a school bus driver. In 1988 they retired to beautiful Bellingham, Washington and began refurbishing their new home. Since 2014, Elaine resided at Woodlands Creek in assisted and independent living. It was quite a change, but eventually became home. During her spare time, Elaine was an avid bridge player and belonged to many bridge groups. She also enjoyed bowling and was in several bowling leagues. Her social life was full with family, friends and social engagements. Elaine loved to shop and was a very fashionable dresser. Until the day she died she was well dressed and admired for being so well groomed. Getting her hair done once a week was always at the top of her "to do” list. Elaine was an excellent cook and loved nothing more than everyone coming over for a big spread. Roast beef dinners were always a big hit. However, nothing compared to the holiday meals when all the family could be together. It was always a good time where many precious memories were made. Elaine is survived by her two daughters, Gail (Woody) and Bonnie (Mike), her son, George, 6 grandchildren (Michael, Robin, Stephen, Ryan, Lindsay, & Christina) and 11 great grandchildren (Jorden, Makenzie, Matthew, Lauren, Kaitlyn, Eden, Stella, Baya, Reid, Emma, & Kaitlyn). She is also survived by her dear friend of 18 years, Robert Bengen of Bellingham, Washington. We want to offer our heartfelt thanks to all the Woodlands Staff.
