Eleanor Darlene Mickelson

Eleanor D. Mickelson, age 91 of Dallas Center, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at the Spurgeon Manor in Dallas Center. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 26, 2022, at 1:30 p.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home & Cremation Care in Perry. Visitation will be on Sunday, September 25, 2022, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home & Cremation Care in Perry. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery at Minburn, IA. Memorials will be given to Spurgeon Manor activities and may be left at the Carris Family Funeral Home & Cremation Care. Eleanor Darlene Mickelson was born on February 18, 1931, at Minburn, IA to Arthur Reinhold and Nellie Mae (Leggitt) Anderson. She attended 8 years of country school and then graduated from Minburn High School. After high school she went to the Iowa School of Beauty. She was united in marriage to Paul R. Mickelson at her parents home in rural Bouton, IA on June 2, 1951. She worked for 3 years at a Minburn Beauty Shop, then the Perry Manor, Perry Lutheran Home for 15 years and Spurgeon Manor for 7 years as a dietary aide. Eleanor also worked side by side with Paul on the farm. She was a member of the Minburn United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. Eleanor enjoyed crocheting afghans for her family. She especially loved being with her family and socializing with her friends. In death she rejoins her husband Paul R. Mickelson, parents Arthur and Nellie Anderson, siblings, Emmitt Anderson, Francis Anderson, Dorothy Roush, Dwight Anderson, and Bill Anderson. Left to cherish Eleanors memory are her children, David (Pam) Mickelson, Bouton, IA, Daryl (Kathy Klatt) Mickelson, Perry, IA, Nancy (Brad) Kiefer, Ogden, IA and Norma (Rob Wolfe) Carlson, Woodward, IA, grandchildren, Matthew (Dana) Mickelson, Andrew (Kelly) Mickelson, Jason (Angela) Mickelson, Nathan Mickelson, Chad (Erin) Spellman, Emily (Matt) Merrick, Evan (Ashley) Kiefer, Ben (Joanna) Carlson and Brent (Hannah) Carlson, great grandchildren, Eily Mickelson, James Spellman, Jackson Spellman, Elizabeth Carlson, Lauren Merrick, Dean Carlson, and Clayton Kiefer, and numerous nieces and nephews.
