Eleanor L. Myers

Eleanor Louise (Button) Myers, age 94, entered Heaven on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at Spurgeon Manor in Dallas Center, IA. Eleanor was born on October 30, 1926 to John (Jack) and Anna Button and lived her entire life in Adel. She married her loving husband, Everett Myers, on Oct 28, 1945 and together they were blessed with three daughters. Eleanor loved people and began her career at Russell Loan & Title. She then became the Dallas County Deputy Recorder for 21 years and worked in the county treasurer’s office for 11 years. She was active in her retirement years by being involved in her church, community groups and political activities. She was generous with her time, acts of kindness and encouragement of others. Playing cards was a favorite pastime throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett (1983); their youngest daughter, LuAnn (1985); parents, Jack and Anna; and her brother, John F. Button. She is survived by her two daughters, Jana (Dan) Heefner and Lana (Jerry) Schrock, both of Adel; sister, Dorothy deReus of Boise, Idaho; six grandchildren, Deanna (Preston) Langley, Jennifer Vandivier, Jeremy (DC) Heefner, Jason (Sara) Schrock, Justin (Vicki) Schrock and Larry (Becky) Schrock; and sixteen great-grandchildren: Brooklyn and Nathan Langley, Elise and Miles Heefner, Sophie, Callie, Ryan, AJ, Caleb, Emilee, Miya, Kira, Naomi, Isaac, Ethan and Aaron Schrock. A public visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 7, 2021 at Caldwell Parrish McCalley Chapel in Adel, with a scripture service at 7:00p.m. at the funeral home. Due to social distancing guidelines, a private funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Panther Creek Church of the Brethren. All other family and friends are encouraged to listen to the service outside in their cars on the radio and join them for a public graveside service at the Panther Creek Brethren Cemetery following the service. Following the service, a recording of the service will be available on youtube. Search Panther Creek Church of the Brethren. The family of Eleanor would like to thank Spurgeon Manor staff and all others who enriched her life.
