Bette was born September 29, 1933, in Albia, Iowa to Charles Victor and Mary Alice Monroe. She was the oldest of nine children. Bette married Joe Beavers on February 23, 1957, in Des Moines, Iowa. Together they raised three children, Tod, Susan and Julie. Bette helped Joe build his businesses and to further his entrepreneurial career.
Bette was a ray of sunshine to everyone she met. She had a positive outlook and was one of the most joyful and happy persons there was. Bette would light up a room when she entered with her joy and laughter and made everyone feel good. Bette’s catholic faith played an important part throughout her life. She also enjoyed spending time and making new friends in both Arizona and Iowa once she retired.
Bette is survived by her son, Tod (Mary) Beavers; daughters, Susan Beavers and Julie (Todd) McLaughlin; and grandchildren, John Beavers, Jacob, Brandon and Joseph McLaughlin. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph H. Beavers; her sisters, Donna Westlake and Mary Willson; and her brothers, Billy, Robert, Charles and Rick Monroe.
The family wishes to thank Paula Spidell and the entire staff at Morningstar Assisted Living and Memory Care, where Bette lived for six years, during the final years of Bette’s life. We wish to thank St. Croix Hospice for providing end of life comfort and care during Bette’s final few months.
