Ellen Mortenson

She entered into eternal rest with Jesus on January 27, 2021. Ellen married Raymond C Mortenson (Lefty) September 2, 1951. They were married for 46 years, until Ray’s death April 15, 1997. God blessed their union with three children. Ellen and her family lived in West Des Moines, Iowa starting in 1965 Ellen had a passion for collecting antiques, fishing at Lake Okoboji with her mom, painting ceramics, working on crafts, finding great deals at garage sales and working in her beautiful garden. She was a loving mother to her children and her pets. Ellen is survived by her 3 children: PJ Mortenson Rundall, Jeffrey Mortenson (Phyllis), and Julie Morrison (Alan); her 6 grandchildren: Jason Westergard, Andrew Mortenson (Katie), Nick Morrison (Chelsea), and Brianna Bosco (Scott); and her 6 great grandchildren: Amelia, Emily, Daniel and Adalynn Mortenson; Natalie Bosco; and Myles Morrison. She was preceded in death by her husband Ray, her parents: Ira and Irene Morgan, 2 brothers: Leon & Alfred (Buzz) Morgan; and 2 sisters: Eunice (Tootie) Bunce, and Myrna Shreve. A private family service will be held. A livestream of the funeral will be available starting at 1:30 PM on Friday, January 29, 2021 at www.caldwellparrish.com. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association at Alz.org in memory of Ellen Mortenson.
