Enolia Payne Buck, 89, of Winterset, passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 19, 2022 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset Chapel. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 19, 2022 at Caldwell Parrish Winterset Chapel. Burial will follow in the Winterset Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Early Chapel Church or the Flowers Around the Square Fund. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.caldwellparrish.com.
Enolia Ardell Young was born on December 2, 1933 to Earl and Vera (Jennings) Young in Winterset, IA. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Payne on June 9, 1951 in Earlham. They were proud parents of Kenna, Kristy, Kelly and Kent. After the death of Kenneth, Enolia married G. Sam Buck on December 31, 1996.
Enolia enjoyed anything that had to do with being outside in her gardens and nature. She loved quilting, dancing, and quilting baby blankets for Blank Childrens Hospital. She also loved to crochet and give an afghan to each of her children and grandchildren. She was a member of Harmony Guild and the Sunshine Garden Club. She was a great baker and cook, and one of the things she loved was Christmas. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was a volunteer for Hospice and also the local Democratic Party, participating in the elections. Enolia was a member of Early Chapel Church of rural Earlham and the First United Methodist Church of Winterset.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; her parents, Earl and Vera Young; two children in infancy; her daughter, Kelly; son-in-law, Jeff Towle; her brother, Donald (Barb) Young; and grandchildren, Benjiman Payne, Jordan Payne and Klint Johnston.
Enolia is survived by her children; Kenna Neighbors of Des Moines, Kristy (Doug) Losey of Winterset, and Kent (Kristi) Payne of Greene; her former daughter-in-law, Leslie Payne of Winterset; her former son-in-law, Larry Johnston of Winterset; her siblings, Bill (Ruth) Young of Winterset, Sheryl (Tom) Griffith of Lynnwood, WA and Edward (Gail) Young of Red Oak; grandchildren, Dani (Jason) Phillips, Cale Neighbors, Jennifer (Adam) O’Neal, Joshua (Gabby) Johnston, Johnathon (Kelly) Johnston, Nicholas (Cheyenne) Johnston, Ahren Joseph “Joey” Johnston, Samantha (Cole) Smith, Ryan (Melissa) Losey, and Jennifer (David) Zuniga; great-grandchildren, Lilly, Annabelle, McKenzie, Charlotte “Charlie”, Griffin, Lochlann, Quinlan, Elizabeth, Emma, Aidan, Adalyn, Evelyn, Owen, Summer, Olive, Jaxson, Ryley, Cooper, Sebastian, Lucy Jo, Marlee, Colt, Brodrick, Mason, Cooper, Isaiah, Tyler and Sydney; great-great grandchildren, Persephone and Lillian; and a plethora of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
