Erin Ann Hughes

Erin Ann Hughes, 43, found eternal rest at home with family and friends on July 10, 2023, after battling many illnesses.

Erin was born on April 14, 1980, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Rich and Mary Hughes of Adel.  She attended Adel-DeSoto-Minburn schools and graduated in 1998. Following high school, she advanced her education at DMACC, graduating in 2000, after which she was employed by Farm Bureau for several years.

Erin enjoyed reading biographies, collecting Precious Moments, and watching Hallmark movies.  Erin was an enthusiastic fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes.  She also loved traveling around the country with her family and volunteering at the Good Samaritan Food Pantry.  She will be remembered for her beautiful smile and her witty sense of humor.

Erin is survived by her parents, Rich and Mary Hughes of Adel; brother, William Hughes of Milwaukee, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many loving friends.  In lieu of flowers, enjoy a tipple of Bailey’s Irish Cream in Erin’s honor, and make any memorials to the Adel Public Library or the Adel Good Samaritan Food Pantry.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, July 13, 2023 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Adel. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 14, 2023 at the church.  Interment will be held at a later date in the Grant Township Cemetery near Tama, Iowa.
