Hastings Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for Eugene (Gene) William Friedrichsen, 96, formerly of the Woodward area. Gene died April 15, 2016 at the Perry Lutheran Home. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 19, after noon at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry with family present from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, at Christ Lutheran Church, Bouton. Eugene William Friedrichsen, son of William Friedrichsen and Helen Thornburg Friedrichsen, was born June 7, 1919 in Rural Boone County and died April 15, 2016 at the Perry Lutheran Home at the age of 96. He married Betty on March 2, 1951 at Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Gene was a member of the United States Air Force where he worked as an aviation mechanic. Besides his time spent in the air force, Gene had lived most of his life in the rural Boone county area as a farmer. He enjoyed old tractors, fishing and woodworking. He was also a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Bouton. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Betty, brother Kenneth Friedrichsen and wife Francis, sister Wilma Hoffman and husband Laurence, and brother-in-law Fredrick Schnoor. He is survived by his sons Gary and wife Linda Friedrichsen of Ogden, IA, Robert and wife Lisa Friedrichsen of Waukon, IA, John and wife Beth of Osceola, WI; daughters Karen and husband Richard Henson of Bayard, IA, Donna Wells of Adel, IA, Norma and husband Charles Seibert of Adel, IA, Janette Friedrichsen of Des Moines; sister Arlene Schnoor of Perry; cousin Iona Thornburg; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
