Evelyn Charlotte Crouse, daughter of Ray Reese and Helen Royce Reese, was born December 30, 1910 in rural Greene County and died April 4, 2013 at the Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson, Iowa. Evelyn was 102 years, 3 months and 6 days old. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 8, 2013 at the Gospel Open Bible Church in Jefferson. Visitation was after 12:00 p.m. on Sunday with family present 5:00 till7: p.m. at Hastings Funeral Home, in Jefferson. Pastor David Grandon of the Gospel Open Bible Church provided words of comfort. Honorary bearers were the Grand Children, Great Grandchildren and Great-Great Grandchildren. Casket bearers were Jeff Kruse, Kevin Kruse, Ken Kruse, Curt Donahe, Donald Sothman, Terry Reese and Dwight Reese. Pianist was Harriett Paup and soloists were Kenny and Deb Monthei. Music was In The Garden and What a Friend We have in Jesus. Interment was at the Jefferson Cemetery. Evelyn attended school in Grand Junction and Rippey. On December 24, 1928 Evelyn and Forrest Crouse were united in marriage at the Christian Parsonage in Jefferson and were the parents of three daughters, Mary Louise, Janice and Joyce. Evelyn worked for many years in several retail businesses in Jefferson, J. C. Penney, Allen's Carpet's Store, and particularly the Blaess Shoe Store. Evelyn was a very active member of the Open Bible Church in Jefferson. She enjoyed working as a Pink Lady at the Greene County Medical Center, calling on the sick and elderly and did handiwork on over 100 afghans. She was an avid baker of desserts. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Sisters Vivian Tasler and Lucille Shorey, Brothers Walter, Warren and William Reese and two son-in-laws, Ron Sexton and Lyle Sothman. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Louise Sexton of Farmington, New Mexico; Janice Sothman of Denver, Colorado and Joyce Kruse and husband Gary of Gowrie, Iowa along with 9 grandchildren, Steve Sexton and wife Kristy, Janet Mitchell, Kathie Cooper and husband Don, Dennis Sothman, Donald Sothman and wife Rhonda, Jeff Kruse and wife Ann, Kevin Kruse and wife Patty, Ken Kruse and wife Joni, and Tammy Donahe and husband Curt, 14 great grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren.
