Evelyn Godwin, age 96 of Perry, passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2023, at her home in Perry, IA. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 20, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home & Cremation Care in Perry with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry, IA. Memorials will be given to Perry Bible Church and may be left at the Carris Family Funeral Home & Cremation Care. Online condolences may be left at www.carrisfuneralhome.com. Grace Evelyn Godwin was born on January 22, 1927, at Haydock, IA to William Arthur and Allie Inez (Williams) Luke. She graduated from the Woodward High School with the class of 1947. She was united in marriage to Leland Richard Godwin at the Woodward United Methodist Church on June 15, 1947. Evelyn worked at Conklin Jewelers in Perry for several years. She was a member of the Perry Bible Church. She enjoyed fishing, bowling, and was the city bowling tournament champion. Evelyn and Lee loved to travel all over the U.S., especially to Branson, MO. In death she rejoins her husband Leland Godwin, parents William and Allie Luke, brothers Harold "Ben" Luke, and Willie Arthur Luke Jr. and a sister Georgia June Luke. Left to cherish Evelyns memory are her nephews, David (Joyce) Luke and Terry (Cindy) Luke, several great nieces, nephews, and a sister-in-law Inez Luke.
