Fern M. Kneuper, 87, of rural Van Meter died Thursday, September 29, 2011 at Westbridge Care and Rehab in Winterset. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 1st, at Trinity Lutheran Church near Van Meter. A visitation will be held from 2 to 7 p.m., Friday, September 30th at Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset, where family will be present to receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery and memorials may be directed to the church. Fern Maxine Kneuper was born April 8, 1924 near Van Meter, Madison County, Iowa; the daughter of David and Augusta (Niendorf) Marquardt. She graduated from Van Meter High School in 1942 and her marriage to Herman Kneuper took place on July 28, 1954 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Fern was a homemaker and farmwife all of her life. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Women’s Farm Bureau. Fern was a devoted wife, mother and adoring grandmother who was an excellent cook and generously shared this talent with her family and many others. Fern is survived by her husband of 57 years, Herman Kneuper; her daughter, Karen Johnson and her husband, Don and two grandchildren, David Johnson and Katie Johnson all of Van Meter. She is also survived by two step-grandchildren; Donald (Dawn) Johnson, Jr., of Tucson, AZ; Roxanne (Donald) Poe, of DeSoto and five step-great-grandchildren, Ashley, Jordon, and Kaylee Johnson, and Andrea and Amanda Poe. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant daughter, Alberta Rae Kneuper.
