Francis Mungai Thiru, a beloved husband, father, and brother in Christ, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2024, at the age of 63 after a brief illness at Broadlawns Hospital. He was born on November 26, 1960, in Kenya, to the late Perminus Kihumbu and Virginia Thiru.
After graduating from Kirangari High School in 1980, he pursued his education at Strathmore College, where he earned his Certified Public Accountant designation. In his youth, he enjoyed playing soccer. He was also a skilled artist through the drawings and sketches he made and a music enthusiast. His career path led him to work with Kenya Pipeline and the Coffee Board of Kenya before he ventured into his own businesses. In 2009, he immigrated to the United States with his family, settling in Des Moines, Iowa, where he last worked in the transportation industry until his passing.
Francis found solace and purpose in his faith, embracing Jesus as his Lord and Savior in 2016 at Imani Family Church. He had been baptized and confirmed at a young age. He married his beloved wife Susan Mungai in September 1988, and they were blessed with three children: Perminus Mungai, Winnie Lee, and Margaret Mungai.
He leaves behind a legacy of unwavering love and dedication to his family. Francis will be deeply missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, siblings, and the entire community. His memory will forever be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial contributions be directed to the Mungai Family to assist with giving Francis a befitting farewell.
