Francis Wayne Aldrich

November 17, 1934 — May 19, 2023

Francis Wayne Aldrich, 88, of rural Adel passed away Friday, May 19, 2023.  Wayne was born November 17, 1934 on the family farm in Dallas County to Orlo and Mabel (Addy) Aldrich.  He was one of seven siblings in a large farming family.  He graduated in 1952 from Redfield High School after attending country school through 8th grade.  In high school he was active in baseball, football, choir, DeMolay, FFA and he even drove a school bus.


On September 10, 1955, Wayne was united in marriage to Ruby Elaine Bacon of Panora to which four children were born.  In 1960, the couple moved from Des Moines to their current home in rural Adel.


He worked for Delavan Manufacturing Company in West Des Moines for 25 years as a Quality Control Inspector.  He then went back to the family farm and also owned a fertilizer spreading company.


Wayne was a quiet, reserved and humble man, who could fix ANYTHING.  He was a great role model for his family to be honest and hardworking.


Left to honor his memory are his wife, Ruby, daughter Karen (James) Ash of Dallas Center, sons Brent Aldrich of Dallas Center, and Tim (Stephanie) Aldrich of Johnston.  One brother Vernon (Jean) Aldrich of Dallas Center.


Grand children - Jennifer (Greg) Waldrop, Heather (Scott) Chatton, Cristy and Stacy Ash, Taylor (Peyton) Honeck, Tara Aldrich, Jayson (Cassie) Aldrich, Jessica (Zack) Woods, Stacy (Tanner) Soderstrum, Jeremy Mains, Joe Mains, Justin (Tonya) Jenkins, Kristin (Josh) Jorgensen, Josh (Sarah) Aldrich, and Amanda (Curtis) Thompson, and 30 great grandchildren.


Preceded in death were his parents, 5 siblings, his son Steve and daughter-in-law Pam Aldrich.


Graveside memorial services will be June 18, 2023, at 3PM at the Wiscotta Cemetery near Redfield, IA.  In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to the Aldrich family.
