Mass of Christian Burial for Freddrick "Dale" Hollar was celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 7, 2013 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Perry. Father Ray Higgins of the All Saints Catholic Church of Stuart officiated. Visitation and a vigil service were held on Friday at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry with Father Paul Nguyen of St Patrick Catholic Church of Perry presiding. The Lector was Elizabeth Elliott and Eucharistic Ministers were Winnie Rounds and Carole O'Hare. Gift bearers were Alexandra and Victoria Mortoza. Honorary Casket bearers were Ron Helmers, Phil Schulte and Doug Hollar. Casket bearers were Joe Mortoza, Nick Mortoza, Dennis Hollar, Dan Hollar, Michael Wenger, Skee Hartmann, James Schuster and Chuck Johnson. Ushers were Bill O'Hare and Bob Rounds. Jan Pattee was the musician. Burial took place at Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry. Freddrick "Dale" Hollar, son of Harold W. Hollar and Juanita Brody was born on July 11, 1943 in Jefferson, Iowa and died September 3, 2013 in Des Moines, Iowa at the age of 70. Dale was raised in Minnesota and later returned and graduated from the Jefferson High School in 1961 and then attended mechanic and diesel schooling in Kansas City, Missouri. On June 6, 1964 Dale married Suzanne Aeck and the couple had daughters Kim, Angela, and sons, James, Patrick and Steven. They lived in the Perry area and over the years Dale worked for Oscar Meyer, LeRoy Plumbing and Hyline International. He was a farmer and retired in 2002 with the couple building their new home on an acreage in Madison County. Dale enjoyed motorcycling, snowmobiling and coaching his children's sports. Dale and Suzanne enjoyed several cruises, camped and spent time with their grandchildren and attending their activities and events. The couple also square danced and bowled. Dale was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Perry and attended St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Winterset and also the Moose Lodge. Dale was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Juanita, his father and mother in law Herbert and Beulah Aeck; sons James Owen Hollar in 1965 and Patrick Dean Hollar in 1966; daughter Kimberly Kay Hollar in 1998, and two brother-in-laws; Ed Aeck and Wayne Martinson. He is survived by his wife Suzanne of Peru, Iowa; daughter Angela Mortoza (Rick) of Winterset; son Steven Hollar of New Virginia; four grandchildren; Alexandra, Joseph, Victoria and Nicholas Mortoza; a brother Bill Hollar (Arlene) of Charles City and three sisters; Arrena Martinson of Lakewood, CA, Karen Wenger (Doug) of Paton, IA and Mary Hartmann (Dick) of Tiskilwa, IL., nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
