Frederick Xavier Adams

Fredrick Xavier Adams, 87, passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. Fred was born on August 15, 1935 to Claude and Geraldine (Dagy) Adams in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was married to Nancy Adams (Van Pelt) in Marshalltown, Iowa for 57 years. Fred worked at the Des Moines Register for 36 years, and retired in 1997. Fred enjoyed gardening, crafts, and loved all animals. He was known to carry treats in his pocket for the passing puppy, on his walks. Fred enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved cooking for them and is especially know for his Butter cookie recipe. Fred was always a kid at heart, and loved spending time with all of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents, brother Ron, brothers in law Pete Stamos, Max Van Pelt, Jerry Farmer and Dale Smith and sister in law Carol Maxfield. Fred is survived by his wife, Nancy Adams of 57 years, son Tony Adams (Jenni) and daughter April Snyders (Jeff), sister Carol Stamos, brothers Jeff Adams (Linda) and Rick Adams (Sandy), sisters in law, Pauline Smith and Martha Adams, 10 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren, and one cat Toby.
