Lurene Orwan, 91, of Karen Acres in Des Moines, formerly of Lorimor, passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital, Des Moines. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 23rd at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset. A visitation will be held from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 22nd with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., with an Eastern Star Service to be held at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Lorimor Cemetery. Gale Lurene Wearmouth was born September 27, 1919 in rural Madison County, the daughter of William and Ethel (Campfield) Wearmouth. She graduated from Winterset High School and met her husband Frank when she was in high school. Lurene and Frank were married in Baltimore, Maryland while Frank was working for Martin Aircraft. Lurene was a dedicated wife and mother, raising two children and she worked outside of the home as a linotype operator for The Lorimorian newspaper for many years. After her husband retired in 1974 the couple moved to Cherokee Village, AR where she resided until 2008 when she moved back to Iowa. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Cherokee Village, AR and Lorimor, IA, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Eastern Star. She is survived by her two children, Dennis Orwan (Diane) of Lorimor, IA and Debbie Petersen (Dean) of Earlham, IA; two sisters, Verlene Simmerman of Hysham, MT, Lucille Gabbert of Cherokee Village, AR; seven grandchildren, Troy Orwan (Monica) of Virginia, Tiffiny Smith (Russ) of Missouri, Tanya Petersen of Earlham, IA, Eric Petersen (Melissa) of Texas, Jeremy Petersen (Nicole) of Earlham, IA, Chris Petersen of De Soto, IA and Tasha Petersen of California; ten great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Lurene was preceded in death by her parents, William Wearmouth and Ethel Ainslie; her husband on December 5, 2007; and a brother, Loyd Wearmouth.
