Gary L. Hood

Gary L. Hood, 69, of Winterset died Sunday, October 2, 2011 at the Madison County Health Care System in Winterset. A visitation with family will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, October 5th at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset. There will be no funeral service. Gary was born September 1, 1942 in Winterset, the son of Wayne and Marion (Monagon) Hood. He graduated from Winterset High School in the class of 1960. Gary loved collecting antiques and for 15 years his hobby was his job as he operated and managed Hood’s General Store in Winterset. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa R. Hood of Phoenix, AZ; three siblings, Robert Hood and his wife, Ginny of Urbandale; Sherrill Clark and her husband, Dennis “Doc” of Winterset; Karen Carter and her husband, Ron of Ankeny. He is also survived by eleven nieces and nephews; 16 great nieces and nephews and 2 great-great nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister and brother, Sandra Hood and Stephen Hood.
