Gary Lee Gilmore, son of Rolland Gilmore and Delores Joan Booth Gilmore was born July 22, 1952 in Jefferson, Iowa and died February 11, 2008 at his home in Perry, Iowa at the age of 55 years, 6 months and 19 days. Gary grew up on his family farm and attended Central Dallas School in Minburn, graduating in 1970. Gary was a very good student and excelled in all his classes. Gary married Linda McCain and they lived in rural Perry. They were parents of three children: Jamie, Matt, and Mandy. The most important part of Gary's life was his family and he adored his children. He enjoyed many things: listening to music, cooking, cars, motorcycles, hunting, fishing, reading, mushroom hunting, and was known to be a history buff. Gary farmed most of his life, including working for Menz Farms and Stine Seed. He had worked for Farmers Coop for a time and owned his own grain bin company known as Gilmore Construction. Gary was working part time even though his health was failing. Gary was preceded in death by his grandparents Virgil and Grace Booth and Harry and Leila Gilmore; sisters, Cerie and Cheryl Gilmore; uncles Jack Booth, and Ivan Gilmore; aunt, Eleanor Conner. He is survived by his parents, Rolland and Joan Gilmore of Linden, IA; sons Jamie Gilmore and friend Tiffany Al-Rashind of Grand Junction, IA; Matthew Gilmore and fiance Summer Joebgen of Ames, Iowa; daughter Mandy Gilmore of Houston, Texas; dear and beloved Tammy Robbins and her sons Daniel and Steven; sister Gail Gilmore; brothers: Alan Gilmore of Dawson, Iowa and Wayne Gilmore of Perry, Iowa; uncles Skip Booth of Perry, Iowa and Francis "Mert" Gilmore of Perry; other relatives and many friends.
