Genevieve Jeanette Brierly Gilliam, daughter of Oscar Sheeder and Clara Gertrude Saylor Sheeder, was born September 25, 1923 in Guthrie Center, Iowa and died May 11, 2006 at her home in Perry, Iowa at the age of 82 years, 7 months and 16 days. Genevieve grew up in Guthrie Center, Iowa and graduated from Guthrie Center High School in 1941. After high school Genevieve went to work as a bookkeeper for her father. In 1941, Genevieve was united in marriage to Myrle Bailey. They were the parents of three sons: Myrle, Brad and Kevin. They made their home in Guthrie Center until later moving to Perry. In 1972, Genevieve was united in marriage to Paul Brierly. They made their home in Perry. Genevieve stayed busy in Perry working as a clerk for Anthony's, the Perry Chief, Parkers Flowers, Harland Ace Hardware and at the Perry Lutheran Home. After Paul's death in January of 1988, Genevieve was united in marriage to Jerry Gilliam in 1993. They made their home in Perry. Genevieve loved to do ceramics and especially loved to spend time with her grandchildren. Genevieve was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Paul, 2 brothers: Gerald and Gay Sheeder and 1 sister: Gertrude Sheeder. She is survived by her husband Gerald Gilliam of Perry; 3 sons: Myrle Bailey and his wife Kay of Dayton, Ohio, Brad Bailey and his wife Linda of Perry, Iowa and Kevin Bailey of Las Vegas, Nevada; 1 step-daughter: Sue Sebring and her husband Mark of Omaha, Nebraska; 1 brother: Gilbert Sheeder of Guthrie Center, Iowa; 8 grandchildren: Jo Bowers and her husband Morris of Grays Lake, Illinois, Wendi Green and her husband Michael of Massillon, Ohio, Aaron Bailey and Maggie Bailey both of Perry, Charles Bailey and Robert Bailey both of Las Vegas, Nevada, Adam Sebring and Rachel Jirka and her husband Joe both of Omaha, Nebraska; 7 great-grandchildren: Zachary and Bailey Bowers, Robyn and Sean Green, Amber and Kristin Jirka and Quentin Sebring; Aunt: Elsie Sheeder of Guthrie Center, Iowa; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
