Gabriel “George” Russo, 66, of St. Charles, died peacefully at his home on November 23, 2016. A celebration of life will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, December 5, at Christopher’s Restaurant in Des Moines. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation and online condolences may be left at ochiltree.com. George Russo was born August 17, 1950 in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Rocco and Josephine (Lentini) Russo. He attended East High School before entering the Marine Corps and served in the Vietnam War. George met his wife Patricia Hobbs while in school and they have been together since they were fourteen. George worked at Mid-America as a welder and maintenance before becoming business representative for IBEW Local 499. He loved working on the farm and in the garden. He also enjoyed watching the wildlife in the yard and fishing at Lake Erie. Above all else, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother who cherished nothing more than the time spent with his family. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Patricia Russo of St. Charles; daughter, Antonia (Adam) Skyles of Des Moines; grandchildren, Logan and Paige; siblings, Emma Polk of Des Moines, Kathy (Darrell) Ludwig of St. Charles, Wendell (Tammy) Russo of Des Moines Rocco Russo Jr. of Des Moines; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. George was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Kathryn Howard.
