A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, July 28 at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset. A visitation will be held 2 to 8 p.m., Friday, July 27 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset, with family present to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in the Philippines at a later date. Memorials may be made to the family to be designated at a later date. Gerald B. de Leon was born November 23, 1971 in Pampanga, Philippines; the son of Renato and Belma (Garmon) De Leon. He was a graduate of Guzman Institute of Technology in Manila, Philippines and also attended Diamond Technology and Robotic Tech Training. He married his childhood sweetheart, Margel Antonio on January 14, 2001. Gerald worked in maintenance at Rose Acre Farms in Winterset for 19 years. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Earlham. He was a skilled auto mechanic and enjoyed golfing, fishing, 4-wheeling, paintball, and riding his Harley motorcycle. He also liked to sing and was a good dancer. Gerald died Monday, July 23, 2012 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was 40 years old. Gerald will be missed by his loving wife of 11 years, Margel de Leon; 2 sons, Justin and Tyler de Leon; his mother and stepfather, Belma and John Garmon; his father and stepmother, Renato and Darlie de Leon; 2 sisters, Jennifer Wishmeyer and Leslie Cortez; 2 stepbrothers, Bryan de Leon and Jay-Jay de Leon; many nieces and nephews; and many friends.
