Gerald Coleman

Gerald Coleman, 89, passed away on October 25, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 19, 1932 to John and Teresa Coleman in Melrose, Iowa. Gerald loved to travel, especially to the Rocky Mountains. Gerald and his wife traveled to Texas over the winter months. He loved watching old westerns and had a great sense of humor. Gerald also loved all of his grandchildren. He spent his years raising his grandchild, Gerald Simmons. Gerald worked for the US Post Office where he later retired after 30 plus years. Gerald was in the United States Army, serving in the Korean War. He is survived by his wife of 47 years Arlene; step-children Diane, Vickie, Randy, and Lael; and 22 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his brother; sister, parents; and stepsons Larry and Gerald. A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 28, 2021 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 3663 66th St., Urbandale, IA 50322. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 29, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. also at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Memorial contributions may be directed to Gerald’s wife, Arlene Coleman.
