Gerald (Jerry) Dean Pierce

Jerry Pierce, 70 of Adel, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center Downtown Des Moines. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 17, 2018 at Panther Creek Church of the Brethren near Adel with burial at Oakdale Cemetery in Adel. Family will greet friends Sunday, December 16, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home – McCalley Chapel in Adel. Jerry was born November 25, 1948 in Lansing, Iowa to Donald and Opal Pierce. He graduated from Adel High School and worked as a sales rep for Moehl Millwork for over forty years. Jerry was a Boy Scout leader, sports enthusiast and great cook. He also enjoyed woodworking, mowing, boating, skiing and loved spending time with his family. Jerry is survived by his wife, Lora; children, Connie (Brant) Kaufman, Brad (Tammy) Pierce, Hailee Pierce and Kacey Pierce; grandchildren, Mallory Pierce, Regan and Quinn Kaufman, and Roman and Raiden Pierce; great grandchild, Maizie Pierce; and siblings, Bonnie Olson, Dolly Flescher, Janet Corrigan, Brenda Pierce, Bruce Pierce, Laurie Crawford and Roger Pierce. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Opal Pierce; son, Scott Pierce; grandson, Justin Pierce; and sisters, Donna Powers, Jeanette Mobley and Becky Pierce. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family, or please bring an new or slightly used coat or warm clothing item for JP’s Coat Drive to the visitation or funeral service, all of which will be donated to a charitable cause.
