Gerald Frances Gliem "Jerry" son of Thomas Allen Gliem and Myrtle Frances Goughnour Gliem, was born May 10, 1939 in Jefferson, Iowa and died August 22, 2015 at his home in Perry, Iowa at the age of 76 years. 3 months, 12 days. Funeral services were held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Hastings Funeral Home, Perry, Iowa. Word of comfort were provide by Chaplain Kevin Vryhof , HCI Hospice, Perry, Iowa, honorary bearers were "His Grandchildren & Great-Grandchildren", Bradley, Erica, David, Samantha, Hannah, Brianna, Joseph, Jenna and Alyce, Music was His Eyes On The Sparrow, How Great Thou Art and Let This Trucker Go with burial at Violet Hill Cemetery, Perry, Iowa. Jerry grew up on a farm outside of Churdan and graduated from Churdan High School in 1957. On May 29, 1960 Jerry and Janet Marie Graves were united in marriage at the Presbyterian Church in Jefferson. The couple was blessed with three children Sandra Kay, Richard Joseph and Debra Linn. The family moved from Jefferson to Woodward for about three years before moving to Perry in 1965. Jerry was a volunteered for the City of Perry and Perry Fire Department and later as a paid fireman, worked for Walt Anderson Welding Shop, Milwaukee Railroad Round House and many years as a truck driver. His last job was driving for Hoovestol Trucking Mail Division for the Post Office. Jerry enjoyed bowling, camping and hunting. He loved wood working, watching TV and spending time with his family. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, aunts and uncles. Jerry is survived by his wife Janet, children: Sandra Kay Gliem of Perry, Richard Joseph Gliem (Vicky) of Jefferson and Debra Linn Gliem Betz (Alan) of Churdan; five grandchildren: Bradley Conklin, Erica Kilmer (Tim), David Petersen, Samantha Gliem and Hannah Gliem; four great-grandchildren: Brianna Conklin, Joseph Kilmer, Jenna Walker and Alyce Conklin; brother Joseph M Gliem (Nancy) of Jefferson; sister Susan Stone (Thomas) of Perry; aunt Laura Ihrig; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends. AA lunch followed the service at Hastings Funeral Home.
