Hastings Funeral Home in Perry is in charge of arrangements for Gerald Allen "Jerry" Hornsby Jr., 56, of Grand Junction. Jerry passed away January 9, 2022 at his home. Services are pending at this time. Gerald Allen Hornsby Jr. "Jerry," son of Gerald Hornsby Sr. and Jannette Kay Sieck Hornsby, was born March 22, 1965 in Iowa City, Iowa. Jerry grew up in Perry and graduated high school in 1983. He worked as a bridge builder for a heavy equipment operator and helped make the Avenue of Saints. Jerry loved having a good time, hanging out with friends, fishing, scrapping, working on cars, and tinkering. He met Keisha Marie Kopecky twenty years ago, but life had set for them different paths. It wasn't until eighteen years later, they found each other again, and six months later they were united in marriage on July 13, 2019 at Squirrel Hollow where they had their first date twenty years before. Jerry died January 9, 2022 with his love by his side, and surrounded by his family and friends at his home in Grand Junction. He is preceded in death by his father Gerald Sr., grandma Irene Hornsby, grandma Ruth Hoffman, step grandpa Bud Hoffman, and good friend Anthony "Buckwheat" McCain. Jerry is survived by his wife Keisha of Grand Junction; mother Jannette Hornsby of Madrid; daughters Katarina Goodrich (Clayton) of Butte, Montana, and Larissa Hornsby (Josh Snyder) of Panora; son Conar Hornsby of Des Moines; stepson Dylan Boude of Grand Junction; grandchildren Kaisley and Kaine Goodrich; sisters Charmalee White (Rusty) of Dawson, and Christine Moran of Madrid; uncle Lyle Hoffman of Guthrie Center; aunt Deb McAllister of Grand Junction; father-in-law Randy Kopecky (Jodi) of Farnhamville; mother-in-law Peggy Smits (Paul) of Jefferson; sister-in-law Tashina Taylor (Mark Burgurt) of Jefferson; cousin Pam McAllister; very special friends Ann Yanders, Don Caldwell, Greg Phillips (Brenda), Kevin Kestel, Ron Mulder, Brian Claussen; many nieces and nephews; other relatives, and many friends.
