Gerry Berner

Geraldine "Gerry" Berner, age 85 of Perry, passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2022, at her home in Perry, IA. Per her request no visitation is scheduled. A private family graveside service will be in the Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry. Memorials will be given to Raccoon River Pet Rescue and may be left at the Carris Family Funeral Home & Cremation Care. Gerry Berner was born on January 19, 1937, at Perry, IA to Walter John and Hazel Mae (Powell) Peel. She graduated from Perry High School. She was united in marriage to James H. Berner at Omaha, NE on May 2, 1957. She worked as a human resources secretary at Oscar Mayer for 27 years. After she retired, she worked at the Perry Public Library and did Lifeline installations. She did catering for various events throughout her home and work life. Gerry was a great cook and took many cooking classes. She especially loved French and Italian cooking. In death she rejoins her husband James, parents, Walter, and Hazel Peel. Left to cherish Gerrys memory is her daughter, Dawne Berner, and many lifelong friends she made along her way.
