Gertrude Fay Folz (Sailer), born November 10, 1913 to Herbert and Irma (Jamison) Sailer in Jefferson, Iowa died July 6, 2009 at the Boone County Hospital of Boone, Iowa at the age of 95 years, 7 months, and 26 days. Gertrude grew up in the Jefferson area attending the country school. On February 10, 1937 Gertrude took Franklin Lewis Folz's hand in marriage. Franklin was a farmer and Gertrude a farmer's wife and mother to their three daughters. Franklin's death in 1959 brought Gertrude into town where she worked at the Cooper School as a cook. Gertrude was a member of the Jefferson Central Church and regularly gave friends rides to Sunday services and church meetings. She was also a member of a breakfast club where she shared good times and breakfast with local friends. Gertrude liked to play a hand or two of cards and was an avid crafter. The finished crafts were always given away to friends and family as a show of her love. Gertrude is preceded in death by a daughter Alta Osterman (Folz), her parents, three brothers Paul, Clark, and Dale Sailer, one sister Lois Hackett. She is survived by daughters: Carolyn Dillavou (Glen) of Boone and Linda McCoy of Des Moines, eleven grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren, one brother Kenneth Sailer (Shirley) of Ankeny and a sister Vera Eatmon of Perry; other relatives and friends
