Glen Melvin Oldre

Glen Melvin Oldre, 86, of Earlham, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. A memorial service will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, April 30, at the First Presbyterian Church in Earlham. His family will receive friends from 2 to 3 PM Saturday at the church. Glen was born June 28, 1929 in Rock County, Minnesota to Paul and Mabel Oldre. He attended country school and graduated from Magnolia High School before attending South Dakota State College. On September 10, 1950, Glen married Bonnie Willers. Together they had five children. Glen farmed with his father until starting his career in insurance sales in Slayton, MN, Sioux Falls, SD, and Des Moines, IA. His last position was regional sales manager. He married Rita Mabry in 1978. Glen enjoyed collecting farm toys and started The Greater Midwest Toy Show in 1981. Surviving Glen is his wife, Rita; sons, Dan of St. Paul, MN, Douglas (Toni) of Sioux Falls, SD, and Kirk of Cottage Grove, MN; daughters, Karen (Ron) Nielsen of Lincoln, NE and Kim (Randy) Kee of Mitchell, SD; Rita’s children, Mickey, Rita Ann, Diane, Ray, Mark and Jim; grandchildren, Anna Janke, Gretchen Miller, Brock Oldre, Lacey Olinger, Alex Kee, Jennifer Harms, and Aaron Oldre; Rita’s grandchildren, Jason, Hollie, Hannah, Kari, John, Laura, Daniel, Veronica, Michael, Rin, Mark Jr., Erica, Jeremy, Emma, and Sophia; sisters, Norma Gangestad, Edna Einck, and Mary Lou Baker; and twenty-two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, LeRoy Oldre. Memorials may go to Earlham Rescue or HCI Hospice. Online condolences may be left on this site.
