Glenda Harvey, 69, of Des Moines, passed away on June 24, 2024, at the Regency Care Center in Norwalk.
Glenda was born on November 19, 1954, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Floyd Harvey and Inez Henderson. She attended Des Moines Technical High School and soon after graduation, married Eugene Franklin Jr. The two shared more than 45 years of marriage before Eugene’s passing in 2020.
She worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield, Iowa Orthopedics, and most recently, Hanger Orthotics and Prosthetics as an Orthopedic Fitter. At a young age, she became a member of Mt. Hebron Missionary Baptist Church in West Des Moines under Pastor James M. Harris.
Glenda was a master in the kitchen, delighting family and friends with delicious food and mouth-watering desserts. She was also an avid QVC shopper and a passionate traveler. She went on many cruises and her most unforgettable voyage took her to Australia. Glenda enjoyed Western TV shows and ruled the family Spades table. Despite her small stature and soft-spoken demeanor, she carried a BIG stick. Above all, the greatest love in her life was her grandson, Weston Eugene Franklin, whose name pays homage to Glenda’s love for Westerns.
