Gloria Lee Ward

Gloria Ward (Prouty) of Adel passed away January 14th in the loving arms of her daughter, sister-in-law and amazing IMMC staff that had become friends over the past month as she battled cancer. Gloria touched many lives, as was evident by the visitors she had, cards she received and prayers that were sent. For that and for all our family and friends, we are thankful Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 20, 2017 at Urbandale United Church of Christ. Private family burial will be later at Jackson Township Cemetery in Owasa. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 19th at McCalley Funeral Home in Adel where family will greet friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a Celebration of Gloria’s Life at 7:00 p.m. Gloria was an Iowa native who claimed the honor of Miss Iowa Falls and was awarded a musical scholarship for her singing and piano talents. In 1962 she married Jack Ward of Owasa and was a loving mother to David and Jackie. Gloria worked a variety of jobs, but spent the majority of her career at the Dallas County Courthouse and retired as the Clerk of Court. Gloria always had a smile and wanted to help all living beings. It was evident in the last days of her life how much she had positively impacted many other lives. She was an honorary member of the Lindlavista Way Social Club and loved her church family at Urbandale United Church of Christ, where she used her talents and gifts to inspire and support others. Gloria is preceded in death by her parents, Dallas and Juanita Prouty, brother Gary (Clark) Prouty, her husband Jack and too many friends and family members to mention. Also important to her were the furry friends that have crossed over the rainbow bridge. Left to celebrate her life are her children, David and Jackie, her beloved granddaughter, Cleo, her brothers Danny, Tracy, Ricky and their amazing spouses, children and grand-children, whom she all loved dearly.
